Web Portal Access
The CrossBridge Solutions Web Portal provide customers with a secure on-line interface for managing their wireless devices. All customers whom have a contract with CrossBridge may use the portal for various support activities. You may activate and deactivate devices, as well as make rate plans changes for any device. You can perform problem determination and review utilization reports for every device. You can set threshold alerts to warn you when a device has exceeded a desired amount of utilization. The Web Portal can be accessed via the Internet using a URL along with the username and password for each account.
Activations/Deactivations
The CrossBridge Web Portal allows you to activate and deactivate devices assigned to your account. You might choose to deactivate seasonal devices and activate the same device at a later point in time. You can choose to purchase SIM cards from CrossBridge in bulk. We will assign these SIM cards to a specific account but we send them out non-activated. When you wish to place these device into service, simply call up the device, select a rate plan and depress activate.
Rate Plan Changes
As you may know, CrossBridge does not lock you into any long term rate plans. You may change rate plans on a monthly basis. A threshold report may help you identify devices that consistently exceed a specific rate plan and should be bumped up to the next highest rate plan. Conversely, you may have a group of devices which do not come close to using the rate plan they have been assgined. Any rate plan changes you make become effective on the first day of the next billing cycle.
Threshold Reporting
Threshold alerting provides a variety of was to keep you informed about the utilization patterns of each of your wireless devices. For instance, you might like to know if any of your devices are about to (or likely to) exceed the rate plan they are presently using. Wouldn't it be nice to know that a device has used 8-Megabytes of a 10-Megabyte plan on the 5th day of the billing cycle? This is just one of the many features intended to help you prevent billing catastrophes.
Problem Determination
There will come a time when you may wonder why you haven't received a message from a specific device. Lots of things can happen which prevent a device from processing traffic.
- There may be a network outage.
- There may be a loss of power at this location.
- The cellular modem may have failed.
- The application may have failed.
The CrossBridge Web Portal can help you to isolate the reason for an outage. You will be able to determine the last time the cellular device was on-line and processed data. You will be able to tell that the cellular device is presently on-line but is not processing any data. You will be able to analyze traffic patters to see if there are any recent changes. These methods of problem determination can help you determine if a costly dispatch to the site can be avoided.
Customized User Fields
Computers and databases don't have many problems with 20-digit ICCID numbers or other cryptic device identifiers but these data strings aren't meaningful to most people. The CrossBridge Web Portal offers two User Defined Fields that you can use to make your life simpler. Wouldn't it be nice to get a report or a invoice with entries such as "Chicago Region, Store 123" or "ABC Company, Plant 65B"? A Threshold Exception Report with a line item of "Easter Region,Tower-15" is much simpler to visualize than ICCID-41046021567830115789.
Pro-active Network Notifications
CrossBridge is aggressively pro-active when it comes to notifying our clients about potential problems.
- We will notify you when we detect that your host is down.
- We will notify you when there are serious network outages.
- We will notify you of any schedule outages.
- We will notify you when any of your devices start sending exceptional amounts of data.
Of course you can decline to receive any or all of these reports on an as-needed basis. Some clients do this in the early development stages and then turn on reporting as they move into production mode.
These are just a few of the many features intended to help you manage your devices more efficiently.
